WANDERING MOSS

Sky in the puddles
Rolls of wet hay
On the still, green hill
Wind in the fallen leaves

I obey the small river
Hushing on my left
Quiet but for gravel
Under my feet

I walk River Road
As far as it goes

Indistinct as the
White-tailed deer
Darting between the trees

Stolid as the wandering moss
Before a burst of sunlight
